Minnetrista sits along the western shores of Lake Minnetonka, and the homes here are built to take in those views. We understand the lake-facing windows, the sun angles through the seasons, and the privacy needs that come with living on or near the water. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. serves Minnetrista and the surrounding Lake Minnetonka communities directly — including Mound, Navarre, and Woodland. You'll get a real in-home visit, not a showroom guess, so every treatment is measured and fitted to your exact windows.
What Window Treatment Options Are Available in Minnetrista, MN?
Minnetrista homeowners have a lot to work with. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. offers the full range — custom drapery, wood and faux-wood blinds, roller shades, cellular shades, Roman shades, plantation shutters, and motorized window treatments. Motorized shades are honestly one of the most practical upgrades for lake-view rooms where you want light control without walking to every window. We carry Graber products and can show you options in your home using the Graber Direct Visualizer before you commit to anything. Every product is custom-ordered to fit your exact window dimensions — nothing off-the-shelf, nothing that gaps at the corners.
Why Minnetrista Homes Need the Right Window Treatments Year-Round
Minnesota winters hit Minnetrista hard. The cold coming off Lake Minnetonka in January is real, and single-pane or older windows without proper coverings let that cold pour into your living space. Cellular shades trap air and add a meaningful layer of insulation — that's not marketing, that's how they're built. Summer is the flip side: west-facing rooms on the lake catch brutal afternoon sun that fades furniture and overheats rooms fast. The right solar shade or shutter controls that glare without killing the view. You'll love your home 365 days a year, no matter the season — but only if the window treatments are doing their job.
How Much Do Custom Window Treatments Cost in Minnetrista, Minnesota?
Pricing depends on window count, size, product type, and finish level. A single room could run anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand — the range is wide because the options are wide. What drives cost most is material choice and whether you're adding motorization. Honestly, you don't need motorized shades on every window unless it's a room you use constantly or windows that are hard to reach. We'll tell you exactly where motorization makes sense and where it doesn't. Every job is different — contact Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. for an accurate estimate.
The In-Home Consultation Process for Minnetrista Window Treatments
We don't send a salesperson who upsells and disappears. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. comes to your home in Minnetrista personally, measures every window, and walks you through what will work for each room's light, privacy, and style needs. Meeting with our experts will transform your home one room at a time. You'll see actual samples in your actual light — not showroom lighting, which tells you almost nothing about how a shade looks against your walls at noon in December. After the consultation, you get a clear quote with no surprise fees after installation. We've won the Angie's List Super Service Award and the Best Employer award — and that reputation holds because we do the work right the first time.
Motorized Shades and Drapery Hardware for Minnetrista Homes
Motorized window treatments have become one of the most requested upgrades for Minnetrista homes, especially in rooms with high or hard-to-reach windows overlooking the lake. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. installs motorized shades that work with remote controls or smart home systems. We also handle drapery hardware — rods, finials, and mounting systems that are fitted and installed correctly so drapes hang the way they're supposed to. A drapery panel that isn't hung at the right height or width looks wrong no matter how good the fabric is. Get that detail right and the whole room changes. Creating perfect custom views one room at a time — that's what we're here for.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer in-home consultations for window treatments in Minnetrista, MN?
Yes — and it's the only way we work. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. visits your Minnetrista home, measures your windows in person, and brings product samples so you can see exactly how each option looks in your space. We serve Minnetrista and surrounding Lake Minnetonka communities including Mound, Navarre, and Woodland. Call 952-895-0618 to schedule. There's no obligation and no pressure to decide on the spot.
What's the best window treatment for a lake-view room in Minnetrista?
For lake-facing rooms in Minnetrista, solar shades are the most practical choice for daytime use — they cut glare and UV without blocking the view entirely. If privacy is the bigger concern, especially at night, layering a sheer shade with a room-darkening option gives you flexibility. Plantation shutters are another strong option for year-round light control. The right answer depends on the window's orientation and how you use the room, which is exactly why an in-home visit matters.
Does Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. serve the Minnetrista area directly?
Yes. We serve Minnetrista and the broader Lake Minnetonka area including neighboring communities along the western and northern shores. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. handles consultations personally, so you're not getting a subcontractor or a different installer showing up at your door. If you're in Minnetrista or nearby — Mound, Navarre, Woodland — call 952-895-0618 and we'll get you scheduled.
What warranty covers window treatments installed in Minnetrista homes?
Every window treatment installed by Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. is covered by a lifetime warranty. If a problem develops with the treatment itself — hardware, mechanism, or installation issue — we come back and resolve it at no charge to you. That applies to Minnetrista customers the same as anyone else we serve. It's one of the main reasons homeowners in this area come back to us for additional rooms after the first installation.
How do we choose between blinds, shades, and shutters for our Minnetrista home?
Blinds give you the most direct light-angle control and work well in kitchens and offices. Shades — cellular, roller, or Roman — tend to look cleaner in living rooms and bedrooms and offer better insulation value, which matters in a Minnesota winter. Shutters are the most durable and add architectural character, but they're also the higher investment. Honestly, the decision usually comes down to the room's function and how much natural light you want to manage. We'll sort it out during your in-home visit in Minnetrista.
Can you install motorized window treatments in a Minnetrista home with older windows?
Yes. Motorized shades and blinds don't require new windows — they mount to the window frame or wall the same way manual treatments do. Battery-operated motorized shades are a good option if hardwired power isn't available near the window. Minnetrista homes with large windows overlooking Lake Minnetonka are a natural fit for motorization, especially for upper windows or rooms where you'd otherwise be adjusting treatments constantly throughout the day.
