We're Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E., and we've built Custom Drapery & Blinds around one idea: every window deserves a solution that was made for it, not adapted to it. Eden Prairie homeowners know how dramatically the sun moves through a south- or west-facing room across the seasons — brilliant and welcome in January, overwhelming by July. That local reality shapes every recommendation we make. Whether you're in the Purgatory Creek area, near Round Lake, or in one of Eden Prairie's newer developments off Pioneer Trail, we come to you. we measure every window on-site, factor in your room's orientation, and bring samples so you can see the fabrics and finishes in your actual light — not under fluorescent showroom bulbs. That's the difference between a window treatment that looks right in a catalog and one that looks right in your home.
Why Eden Prairie Homes Demand More Than Off-the-Shelf Blinds
Eden Prairie's housing stock runs the full spectrum — from mid-century split-levels near Eden Lake to sprawling contemporary builds along the bluffs overlooking the Minnesota River valley. Those homes don't share window dimensions, and they don't share light challenges. A cellular shade that works beautifully in a tight north-facing bedroom will fall completely flat on a floor-to-ceiling great room window that catches the western sun at 4 p.m. we don't believe a single product line solves every problem. What we bring to every Eden Prairie consultation is the experience to read a room honestly and recommend the treatment that fits — not the one that's easiest to sell. You'll end up with something that belongs there.
Custom Drapery for Eden Prairie Living Rooms and Dining Rooms
There's a reason custom drapery still sets a room apart the way nothing else quite can. The weight of the fabric, the break at the floor, the way it moves when you cross the room — those details don't happen by accident, and they can't be replicated by ready-made panels. For Eden Prairie dining rooms with tall ceilings, we typically work in heavier woven fabrics with a full lining to control sound and insulation alongside the light. For living rooms that open to outdoor views, a sheer layered under a tailored drapery panel gives you the best of both worlds: open and airy during the day, private and cozy at night. Every project starts with a conversation about how you actually use the space.
Motorized Shades — Practical Luxury for Eden Prairie Homes
Motorization isn't a novelty anymore. For Eden Prairie homeowners with high transom windows, vaulted great rooms, or skylights, it's the only practical answer. We install motorized shade systems — including Graber motorized options — that work with your phone, a wall switch, or a programmed schedule. Honestly, once you've set your shades to lift with the sunrise and close before the afternoon glare hits your television, it's hard to go back. The technology has become reliable enough that we recommend it without hesitation for any window that's difficult to reach or where consistent light control matters. Every job is different — contact Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. for an accurate estimate on motorization for your specific windows.
Shutters and Woven Wood Shades — Timeless Options That Fit Eden Prairie's Aesthetic
Eden Prairie's design sensibility tends toward the clean and the natural — a lot of warm wood tones, neutral palettes, and an appreciation for materials that age well. Plantation shutters fit that aesthetic perfectly, and they're one of the few window treatments that genuinely adds to a home's resale value. Woven wood shades are another option we love for this market: they bring organic texture into a room, filter light beautifully, and hold their own against any interior style from farmhouse to modern. Neither choice is right for every window or every room, and we won't tell you they are. That's what the in-home consultation is for — figuring out where each treatment earns its place and where something else might serve you better.
What to Expect When You Work With Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. in Eden Prairie
The process isn't complicated, but it does require the kind of attention that a remote quote or a showroom visit can't replicate. We schedule an in-home consultation at your Eden Prairie home, where we measure every window precisely, assess your light conditions at different times of day based on your room's orientation, and walk you through fabric, color, and hardware options with samples in hand. From there, we handle the ordering, the fabrication coordination, and the installation. You're not managing multiple contractors or trying to interpret a confusing spec sheet. The person you speak with at the start is the person who installs at the end. Creating perfect custom views one room at a time — that's not just a phrase we use. It's the standard we hold every project to.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a custom window treatment project take in Eden Prairie, MN?
From initial consultation to installation, most Eden Prairie projects run four to six weeks depending on the products selected and current fabrication lead times. Custom drapery typically takes a bit longer than blinds or shades because of the fabric sourcing and sewing involved. we'll give you a realistic timeline at the consultation so you can plan around it — no vague estimates. If you have a specific date in mind, like a home sale or a houseguest visit, tell us upfront and we'll tell you honestly whether we can hit it.
Do you serve specific neighborhoods in Eden Prairie, or all areas of the city?
we work throughout Eden Prairie, Minnesota — whether you're near Staring Lake, in the Flying Cloud area, around Eden Lake Elementary, or in one of the newer developments off Pioneer Trail or Spring Road. All consultations are in-home, so we come to you regardless of which part of Eden Prairie you're in. What's the price range for custom window treatments in Eden Prairie?

A single custom Roman shade will cost very differently from a full great room drapery installation with motorized traverse rods. we won't give a ballpark that sets the wrong expectation. What we will do is give you a clear, itemized quote after the in-home consultation — no surprises. Every job is different — contact Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. for an accurate estimate.
Can you help us choose window treatments for a home with large west-facing windows in Eden Prairie?
West-facing windows in Eden Prairie are one of the most common challenges we work with — beautiful views, brutal afternoon sun. The solution depends on how much of the view you want to preserve versus how much heat and glare you need to block. Solar shades in the right openness factor can do both surprisingly well. Layered treatments — a sheer plus a blackout or room-darkening panel — give you full flexibility across seasons. we'll assess your specific room and sun angle at the consultation and walk you through the tradeoffs honestly.
Do you offer motorized window treatments for Eden Prairie homes with vaulted ceilings or hard-to-reach windows?
Yes, and for vaulted great rooms and high transom windows in Eden Prairie, motorization isn't a luxury — it's the practical choice. Manual cords on a window twelve feet up are a nuisance at best and a safety concern in homes with children. we install motorized shade systems that can be operated by remote, wall switch, smartphone app, or scheduled timer. Most Eden Prairie homeowners who add motorization to even one difficult window wish they'd done it on more. we can walk you through the options and what drives the cost during the consultation.
Why hire a custom window treatment specialist in Eden Prairie instead of buying from a national retailer?
National retailers sell to the average window. Your windows aren't average. Eden Prairie homes have bay windows, oddly proportioned sliders, two-story great room windows, and custom millwork that ready-made treatments simply can't address cleanly. Beyond fit, there's the installation — a blind that's slightly off-level or a drapery rod that's hung at the wrong height will undermine an otherwise beautiful room. we measure, specify, and install everything ourselves. You're not managing a delivery and figuring out installation alone. That difference shows up every single day when you're living with the result.
