Lake Elmo has a character all its own — the larger lots, the mix of newer construction and established homes near Lake Elmo Park Reserve, the natural light that pours through those big windows facing the water or the tree line. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. knows this area well and serves Lake Elmo and the surrounding Washington County communities regularly. We'll come to you, measure every window on-site, and show you real samples in your actual space with your actual light. No guessing. No ordering the wrong thing. You'll know exactly what you're getting before a single installation begins.
Why Lake Elmo Homes Need More Than Off-the-Shelf Window Coverings
A lot of Lake Elmo homes have architectural details that standard blinds just don't fit — wide picture windows, arched tops, floor-to-ceiling panels in great rooms, oversized sliding doors facing a backyard or lake view. Off-the-shelf products aren't built for those situations. They're built for average. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. measures your actual windows and builds or sources coverings that fit them precisely. The difference is visible the moment they go up. You'll love your home 365 days a year, no matter the season — and that's exactly what custom is supposed to deliver.
What Window Treatment Options Are Available for Lake Elmo Homeowners?
We bring the full range to your Lake Elmo home. Custom drapery for living rooms and bedrooms where fabric and layering make the biggest visual impact. Blinds — wood, faux wood, aluminum — for rooms where clean lines and light control matter most. Shades in every style: roller, cellular, roman, and woven wood. Shutters for a timeless look that holds its value. Motorized shades for hard-to-reach windows or anyone who just wants the convenience of a remote or smart-home integration. And drapery hardware that finishes the look instead of fighting it. Every product we install carries that lifetime warranty — no exceptions for Lake Elmo clients.
What Does Custom Window Treatment Installation Cost in Lake Elmo, MN?
There's a misconception that custom automatically means out-of-reach pricing. It doesn't. Cost depends on the type of treatment, the number of windows, the materials you choose, and the scope of the installation — a single roman shade in a home office is a very different project than motorized drapery across an open-concept main floor. The range across projects can run from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars or more. Every job is different — contact Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. for an accurate estimate. What we won't do is quote you a number over the phone before we've seen your windows. That kind of guess helps no one.
How the In-Home Consultation Works for Lake Elmo Window Treatments
Meeting with our experts will transform your home one room at a time — and it starts with a simple in-home visit. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. or one of our team members comes to your Lake Elmo home, measures every window you want covered, and walks you through real fabric and product samples in your actual space. You see how the light interacts with the material. You feel the weight of the fabric. You make a decision based on something real, not a tiny swatch on a website. Once you approve the plan, we handle the ordering and the full installation. You don't manage a thing.
Motorized Shades and Smart Window Treatments for Lake Elmo Homes
Motorized shades are one of the most requested upgrades we install in Lake Elmo right now — and it makes sense. Homes here often have tall or wide windows where manually adjusting a shade isn't practical. Motorized options let you control light and privacy from your phone, a remote, or a wall switch. They integrate with most smart-home systems, including Google Home and Amazon Alexa setups. We carry motorized options across multiple product lines and help you pick the right motor type for your window size and usage. It's a change you notice every single day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you come to Lake Elmo, MN for in-home window treatment consultations?
Yes — we serve Lake Elmo and the wider Washington County area with in-home consultations. Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. or a member of our team comes directly to your Lake Elmo home, measures your windows on-site, and brings samples so you can see products in your actual space. We don't ask you to drive to a showroom and imagine how something will look in your home. The consultation comes to you, and it's how we make sure every window covering we install fits perfectly.
What kinds of window treatments work best for homes near Lake Elmo Park Reserve?
Homes near Lake Elmo Park Reserve often have larger windows designed to capture natural views and light — which is beautiful and also means you need real light control and UV protection. Woven wood shades and cellular shades are strong performers here because they filter light without blocking the view entirely. For rooms where privacy matters more than the view, shutters and custom drapery give you full control. We look at your specific windows, your sun exposure, and what each room needs before recommending anything.
How long does a window treatment installation take for a full Lake Elmo home?
Most full-home installations in Lake Elmo are completed in one visit once your window coverings have been ordered and arrived. The in-home consultation and measurement happen first — usually an hour or two depending on the number of windows. Custom products typically have a production lead time of a few weeks after you approve your selections. Installation day itself is efficient; most homes are done in a few hours. We'll give you a realistic timeline during your consultation so there are no surprises.
Does Custom Drapery & Blinds by M.E. offer a warranty on window treatments installed in Lake Elmo?
We offer a lifetime warranty on our window treatments — and that applies to every installation we complete in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. If any problem comes up from the window treatments we've installed, we come back and solve it at no charge to you. That warranty is one of the reasons Lake Elmo homeowners call us back when they're ready to do another room. We've won the Angie's List Super Service award and the Best Employer award — we're not here to disappear after installation day.
Can we get motorized shades installed in our Lake Elmo home, and how do they work?
Motorized shades are available and installed regularly in Lake Elmo homes. They're controlled by a remote, a wall switch, a smartphone app, or integrated into a smart-home system like Google Home or Amazon Alexa. They're especially practical in rooms with tall windows, skylights, or windows in hard-to-reach spots — which Lake Elmo homes with open-concept great rooms often have. We walk you through the motor options during your in-home consultation so you know exactly what you're getting before we order anything.
Is custom drapery a good fit for newer construction homes in Lake Elmo?
Custom drapery is one of the best finishing touches you can add to new construction in Lake Elmo. Builders don't hang drapery — they leave windows bare or add basic blinds. Custom drapery is what makes a newly built home feel finished and designed. We work with the exact dimensions of your windows, choose fabrics that complement your interior palette, and install everything so the panels hang perfectly. It's a dramatic upgrade. Creating perfect custom views one room at a time is exactly what this work is about.
